The chapter will focus on connecting women across Spain and Portugal.

SAN FRANCISCO , CA, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- ChIPs Network, the global community advancing women in tech, law, and policy, has opened a new chapter in the Iberian Peninsula. This chapter, focused across Spain and Portugal, is the eighth ChIPs chapter in Europe, joining chapters in Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom in connecting women in intellectual property.

“ChIPs is all about bringing together women working in legal, intellectual property, technology, risk and compliance.” says Sara Nazaré, ChIPs Iberian Peninsula chapter co-chair. “There are so many brilliant professionals across Spain and Portugal, but we realized there wasn't really a place that connected all of us as one Iberian community. ChIPs Iberian Peninsula creates that bridge. It makes it easier to meet, learn from each other, collaborate and build relationships that hopefully last well beyond individual events.”

ChIPs Iberian Peninsula chapter co-chair Cintia Bernhardt found this chapter launch to come at exactly the right time. “Europe is redefining its industrial and technological strategy, from AI regulation to semiconductor manufacturing and the resilience of critical industries. As this happens, the Iberian Peninsula is emerging as a strategic gateway for innovation, technology and life sciences,” she said.

“More and more international companies look at Iberia as a single ecosystem rather than two separate markets, creating incredible opportunities for professionals working across law, IP, technology, risk and compliance,” said Rais Amils, the chapter’s third co-chair. “As Iberia becomes more connected, we hope ChIPs becomes one of the communities that connects it.”

“We are delighted to establish a presence in Spain and Portugal. The need for community serving women in this space is a global phenomenon; to see grassroots leaders bring about and build community is a special thing to witness” said Joan Toth, ChIPs Executive Director.

ChIPs Iberian Peninsula will welcome IP leaders from across the globe this fall as it hosts the 6th annual ChIPs European Summit in Lisbon. The European Summit is designed to provide a space for leaders to network and learn skills specific to European IP law. This year's European Summit, which takes place on November 19, features the theme “At the Edge: Leadership for an Intelligent Age.” The event brings together Lisbon's geographic location at the edge of Europe, alongside a nod to the age of discovery and the new age we're entering: post-information and increasingly “intelligent.” Passes are available on request.
